David Chipfield overhauls the London Selfridges flagship store

The Selfridges department store has appointed British architect David · David Chipperfield redesigned the flagship store on the east side of Oxford Street in London.

David · Chipfield is expected to invest more than £3 million in design renovations, he said: “From Since its inception, the Selfridges department store has been flaunting design innovation and excellence, and the redesign of this landmark flagship store is both a daunting challenge and an excellent opportunity. According to Selfridges, the redesign has integrated the male and female-related product sales into a 4,600-square-meter space, making it the world’s largest retail division. It will also include a two-story pedestrian street that runs through the flagship store.
This flagship store was originally designed by American architect Daniel · Burnham in 1909. This reconstruction will begin at the end of June this year and is expected to be completed within five years.
